Don’t let the summer crowds fool you. September and October are arguably some of the best months to visit Newport. Mild weather, fewer people, and serene, empty beaches – we simply can’t get enough of this time of year. As the temps slowly drop and as the sun sets a little earlier each night, we can’t help but think ahead to our favorite fall in and around Newport.

Here are five things we think you absolutely should not miss this season.

1. Hard-Pressed Cider at Windmist Farm:

Okay, this is technically over the bridge in Jamestown, but well worth the trip. Imagine a fresh cup of cider accompanied by a scrumptious cider doughnut while taking in stunning farmland views as cows meander by. Have we sold you yet? A seasonal, weekend favorite.

2. Kick back at Reject’s Brewery:

We love hanging by the fire pits at Rejects and taking in golden hour over the water. Fun for the whole family, pups included! You can even grab dinner from Diegos Cantina if you’re making a night of it.

3. Hit the Cliff Walk!

Although we love the summer season for all that it is, some popular attractions can prove challenging among crowds. We love enjoying the Cliff Walk as the temperatures drop. With fewer crowds to navigate, the scenery is truly unmatched…and you’ll have better luck finding parking!

4. Enjoy Clam Chowder at the Black Pearl:

Although Clam Chowder is an RI staple that can be devoured anytime of year, there’s nothing quite like a brisk evening at the Black Pearl. Bonus points if you enjoy it with a side of people-watching from the outdoor dining area.

5. The Broadway Street Fair, October 12

The Broadway Street Fair is an annual favorite among locals. Enjoy food trucks, craft vendors, activities for children. This year the event will take place from 12-4 PM. Come hungry!
